Cindy DoAhead WomanI met Cindy, otherwise known as the DoAhead Woman, at a Proverbs 31 Conference in 2013 when we were randomly assigned to the same group to take an intensive look at our ministries. I trembled in a corner, amazed and intimidated by the incredible talent in the room, but Cindy was warm and welcoming.

As we sat on the floor together working on our highlighted benefit statements and felt needs, Cindy uttered a line that eventually became a chapter in my book (which was then just a gleam in my eye) – “You know, I bet loving your neighbor makes people feel safe.” She was right! Cindy, Chapter 6 is dedicated to you!

Cindy has a special knack for making life simple and sweet, and she’s invited us to share these DoAhead recipes and gift ideas with our neighbors! If you want to “Minimize Perspiration and Maximize Inspiration!” please visit www.doaheadwoman.com.

Mason Jar Makeover

Mason-Jar

Mason jars can be used for many different occasions and filled with a variety of items. Add an instant drink mix, candies or cookies and deliver one to your neighbor! If it’s for a babysitter, how about adding a few chocolates? If it’s for a teacher, how about inserting a gift card to the local bookstore?

Start with the following items/tools:

  • Pint size mason jar with flat and ring
  • Fun straw
  • Funky cupcake liner
  • Flavoring for beverage (Tea Bag, Crystal Light)
  • Drill Press

Supplies-for-Mason-Jar

The only true task to assembling these is the required hole in the flat. If you do not own a drill press try your local mechanic. For a nominal fee ( or perhaps even a pan of brownies) they can quickly drill the holes.  Once the hole is drilled in the flat, center your cupcake liner under it. Use a cutting blade to trace and cut a circle in the paper. Next, fill the jar with the treats of your choice, lay the flat on top of the jar, place the cupcake liner on top of the flat, twist the ring into place, insert the straw and…

Bam! A hand crafted, affordable gift!

This recipe for Iced Coffee is an absolute no-brainer (which explains why it works so well for me!) and is perfect for sharing with a neighbor on a glorious spring day! What do you get when you cross a Mason Jar Makeover with a Percolated Pleasure?

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 cups, double strength coffee
