I am certain in my heart and mind that you girls are living these lessons on “encouragement.”    I loved the special prayer for me in this time of transition as we move from our home of 17 years to a rental.  You energized me so much that I took a load of “stuff” to the rental—-after going through to determine which belongings could be a blessing to someone else.  (Thank you, Janet, for your sweet prayer.)

Stick To Your Ribs Granola RecipeThis week will be doable as I make the Word of God my priority before  I continue with the chore of moving.  That was our take-home today—-in addition to your Trail Mix.  I heard several positive comments about  the mix so thought I would share the recipe.  You may want to make a batch to encourage someone in your neighborhood or family.  (Hint—-this is personal application of Lesson 2!) Warning—after you have finished baking the basic mix, throw in the “kitchen sink.”  NEVER forget chocolate chips and M and M’s!

STICK TO YOUR RIBS TRAIL MIX

  • 2 1/4 cups regular oats
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup butter

Combine oats, almonds, cherries, apricots, pecans and raisins.  Combine honey and butter in microwavable cup measure and heat on high for 2 minutes.  Stir to mix honey and butter.  Drizzle over oat mixture till coated.  Spread mixture in a single layer in a jelly roll pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Stir mixture every 10 minutes to brown evenly.  Cool completely in pan and break into pieces.

Pour a cup of coffee or glass of milk and feast on God’s Word —- the REAL stick to your ribs treat.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,  encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Have a blessed week,

Rhonda
